The Rowing Club of The Woodlands is dedicated to offering an assortment of recreational, intermediate, and elite rowing opportunities for the weekend, weather-loving rower to the national-level competitor. The club actively participates throughout the community to promote the sport of rowing through well-being.
History
Rowing Club of The Woodlands, Inc. is a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. The club was formed by a small group of enthusiasts in February 1989. Since then, the club has grown to approximately 100 members including recreational, ex-collegiate, master and junior rowers.
The club is dedicated to the advancement of rowing and is a registered member of the United States Rowing Association (USRowing), the national governing body for the sport in the US. Established in 1882, USRowing is America's oldest amateur sports association.
Legacy of Excellence
Individuals from the club actively compete at regional and national regattas. Our members include many repeat gold, silver and bronze medalists at the USRowing Masters National Championships, as well as previous members from the U.S. National Team. Members have continued their rowing experience in college with top rowing universities including the U.S. Naval Academy, Brown University, U.S. Coast Guard, University of California - San Diego, University of Texas, Cornell University, and many others.
Structure & Lake Woodlands
The club has established itself in Northshore Park on Lake Woodlands. Lake Woodlands was a man-made product of The Woodlands Development Company and has over 200 acres of rowable water. The lake has no-motorized-power boats ordinance to help ensure rowers safety.
